Let us think about Bill Gates predictions on college education
Face to face interaction can not be replaced by email, but it is common knowledge how useless this interaction normally is in the college or anywhere, i.e. how rare a significant personal relationship is. Nostalgic references to the years of youth in the college are not the ingredients of passionate learning and creativity, and they are not even enough to help a person develop strong roots in the general life of a society.
To the degree that they have good teachers, colleges of course will keep a special value. As also Gates supports, there is no either-or dilemma, just a stronger shift towards the teaching of oneself using online communication and resources – and this shift is more probable with individuals of an exceptional passion for knowledge.
