Why the philanthropy of Bill Gates is not less important than making business
Another case in favour of philanthropy is equally important, in my opinion, the fact (even forgotten by some) that business men are also “men”, i.e., intelligent multi-dimensional beings — with a variety of feelings, ambitions, dispositions, favors, purposes, etc — they have many sides and aspirations, not just one or two, so that we should not render them more uninteresting and deficient than our multitasking computers…
Bill Gates could have persuaded himself, to the end of his life, that his making business was the best way of helping. Yet he is a human being, his interests are various, he lives in a society, he is interested in children, in the old men, in the unable men, and in all factors that infuence them, the education, the politics, health, almost everything, so that, under ideal conditions regarding his abilities, he would want to get himself involved in many aspects of social life in order to feel that he remains a complete human being, with all of his potential active. Just making business normally can not satisfy a person, especially a very gifted one.

That’s a great article. The whole site is great and gives unusual perspectives on Bill Gates and his Windows.
